Why St. George Island?

St. George Island, Florida is a 28 mile long barrier island.  St. George Island is known for being family, and pet friendly with beautiful white sandy beaches. There are no high rises, and some of the roads are unpaved to help keep traffic down. A nature lover's paradise, with a wide variety of forgotten coast animals. Frequently spotted are Bald Eagles, Egrets, Ospreys, Pelicans and Gulls. See Manatees and Gators up the Apalachicola Bay River, or look for shark and dolphin fins in the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Protected dunes and uncrowded beaches make for fantastic pictures and beautiful sunsets.  At the East end of the Island you have a gated state park with public restrooms, beach accesses, and rv parking. At the West end of the island you find the gated "St. George Island Plantation" community. No matter where you are on the island, you are less than 5 minutes from the beach or bay by car. Shelling and fishing is fantastic on the island and the surrounding barrier islands. We have often cooked our catch of the day, including: Grouper, Flounder,  Redfish, Cobia, Snapper, King fish, Pompano, Amberjack, Whiting, White & Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, Tripletail, Mahi-Mahi, Spanish Mackeral, Mullet, plus our fresh local shrimp and world famous Apalachicola Bay Oysters.
